Call for IAP to submit comments on Bundu's Environmental Management Plan for shale gas exploration - 9 February 2015

Bundu Gas applied for an exploration right in May 2010 and submitted an Environmental Management Programme (EMPr) in October 2010. This application was not processed by the regulator under the moratorium that was placed on shale gas exploration. The Director-General of the Department of Mineral Resources recently in terms of section 39(5) of the MPRDA requested Bundu Gas to update the EMPr and to conduct a second consultation with interested and affected parties in the manner contemplated in section 79(4)(a) of the MPRDA prior to submission of the updated EMPr on or before Friday 27 February 2015. This letter serves to notify you as an owner of land within the exploration right application area that the regulator has made a decision to move forward with consideration of applications previously submitted and that the process to update the EMPr has commenced. Bundu Gas has appointed Golder Associates, an independent environmental consultancy, to undertake the EMPr update and public consultation process in terms of section 79 of the MPRDA.
