Cape Craft & Design Institute

The Cape Craft & Design Institute (CCDI) was set up in 2001 in order to promote and grow craft as an economic sector in the Western Cape Province. The CCDI is a joint venture of the Provincial Government and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

Four programmes support crafters and network all players in the product-to-market chain:

• Product Support - encouraging innovation and experimentation
• Business Support - training and mentoring for craft entrepreneurs
• Market Support - bridging the gap between maker and market
• Communication and Sector Promotion - building the network of communication
• Rural Outreach - taking the CCDI's services to craft producers in rural areas
