Marine and Estuarine Research

Marine and Estuarine Research is an ecological consulting company providing specialised services in environmental impact assessment and integrated environmental management. The company seeks to generate solutions to the many challenges facing coastal and aquatic environments in southern Africa. We achieve this via an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach that is underpinned by critical analysis and teamwork.

MER specialises in biomonitoring and research in the coastal zone as well as assessments of factors impacting directly or indirectly on rivers, estuaries, coastal lakes and inshore marine environments. The facilitation of training and capacity building is central to the work of MER and along with bursaries to university students we provide a training service to a range of clients, including universities, technikons as well as the corporate sector.
