The Centre for Invasion Biology (C·I·B) is a distributed network of researchers with a hub at Stellenbosch University. Our vision is to provide the scientific understanding required to reduce the rate and impact of biological invasions, to improve the quality of life of all South Africans. The C·I·B undertakes a broad range of research and education that focuses on understanding and remediation of ecosystem changes that are a consequence of biological invasions. C·I·B researchers are active in many parts of South Africa, including Marion Island, working on different aspects of biodiversity, ecosystem functioning and ecosystem services affected by invasive alien organisms. Research covers all aspects of invasion biology, such as the impacts of climate change and community ecology, impacts of invasions on biodiversity, macroecology, landscape ecology, marine biology, pollination biology, risk assessment, spatial modelling, and seed bank research.
