Meet Dr Jane Goodall - Word Renown Primatologist - 18 June 2008

Speaking at a WESSA / Jane Goodall Institute Breakfast

Date: Tuesday 8 July 2008

Time: 09:30

Venue: Silvertree Restaurant - Kirstenbosch

Cost: R120

Dr. Jane Goodall began her pioneering research into the behaviour of wild chimpanzees in Africa 48 years ago. Her painstaking observations of chimpanzees at Gombe National Park in Tanzania transformed our understanding of our closest animal relatives and made us re-evaluate what it means to be human. Dr. Goodall founded the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 in order to combat the rapid degradation of critical habitat for chimpanzees and other African wildlife. Today, the Institute has evolved into a dynamic international organization that supports wildlife research, conservation and education.

She is in South Africa very briefly to help with the promotion of Roots and Shoots environmental groups, raise awareness about her work in Gomba and promote conservation efforts.
